There’s something so restorative about slowing down to bake something delicious for yourself – I know because I’ve just made these vegan gluten-free brownies.

Baking is one of my favorite ways to take care of myself and add a little pleasure to my life.

I carefully select one of the delicious recipes I collect on my pinterest board, gather the ingredients on my cutting board and start another experiment in healthy baking.

Yet whenever my business goes to the next level, my baking utensils get shoved to the back of the pantry and I forget about my pinterest board.

It’s so easy to bake when I’m in a fallow period, but when things pick up it’s one of the first things that magically disappear from my life. This remains unnoticed until I wake up one day feeling a little too tired

It took me a bit to understand this, but the correlation between baking and fun in business is clear for me now:

When I make time for the simple pleasures in my life, I love my life and I love my work.

But when those things get compromised out of convenience or serious hustle, well, I can get away with it for a little while, but not too long.

What’s something you do for the sheer pleasure of it? What activities help you slow down and replenish your energy reservoirs?

Do they tend to be the ones that fall by the wayside as soon as things get a little busy? Well, how about you take an hour or two (block it in your calendar if you must) during the next week to remember how good it feels? :)
